The main theme of this event was bread in the traditions of various cultures, nations and religions.

2.00 – 2.10 p.m.

Welcome speech, opening of the ”United by Bread” Festival – Mr. Bogumił Sobula, First Deputy Mayor of Katowice, and Mr. Adam Łęski - originator of the local initiative: United by Bread. Home made food EXPO Katowice Ligota-Panewniki.

2.10 – 2.25 p.m. Etnos Ensamble band – a musical accent inspired by the cultures of different nations

2.25 – 3.15 p.m. - Panel discussion on bread in the Christian, Muslim and Jewish traditions; the participation of invited guests:

- Mr. Włodzimierz Kac - President of the Jewish Community in Katowice

- Mr. Abdul Jabbar Koubaisy - Director/Secretary of the Muslim Culture Centre in Warsaw and Katowice

- Rev. Tadeusz Czakański, PhD - Catholic Delegate of Katowice Metropolitan Archbishop Wiktor Skworc for Interreligious Dialogue

- Bishop Marian Niemiec - Evangelical-Augsburg Parish in Katowice

3.15 – 3.30 p.m. - Etnos Ensamble band

3.30 – 4.30 p.m. - Presentations prepared by Katowice partner cities. The participants:

• Delegation from Miskolc (Hungary): Mr. Tibor Szopkó – Deputy Mayor of Miskolc, Mr. Imre Bartha György, Miskolc City Council

• Ms. Monika Moj - President of the Cologne-Katowice Partnership Association and Mr. Peter Maciolek,                    the Association member

• Video presentation on French bread by Mr. Julien Secher - prepared by Mr. Robert Pyka - Director of the House of Saint-Etienne City (France) in Katowice

• "Culinary Encounters of Students from the Visegrad Group Cities" - film presentation of the Special Primary School No. 7, prepared by Director Małgorzata Gondek and Ms. Barbara Piasecka, the project coordinator

• Complex of Special Vocational Schools No. 6 in Katowice - presentation of bread

• Polish-Hungarian Friendship bread - presentation of bread by Mr. Adam Łęski, President of the Katowice-Miskolc Cooperation and Friendship Association

• Video greetings from the following twin cities: Groningen (the Netherlands), Opava (Czech Republic), Ostrava (Czech Republic), Shenyang (People's Republic of China), Mobile (USA).
  

4.30 – 4.45 p.m. - Etnos Ensamble band

4.45 – 5.30 p.m. - "Craft Bakeries Yesterday and Today"; a panel discussion attended by the invited bakeries representatives: the Bittmann and Łysik (Ligota-Panewniki) families, Kurek from the bakery at 28 Dębowa Street in Katowice and Mr. Grzegorz Płonka.

5.30 – 5.45 p.m. - Etnos Ensamble band

6.00 p.m. – Closing of the event in the Zadole district.

11.09.2021 (Saturday)

12.00-12.05 p.m. – Welcoming the guests and starting the second day of the event – a representative of Katowice City

12.05 – 12.20 p.m. - Musical accent: Maria Gorajska with her band /blues, country and folk music/

12.30 – 1.45 p.m. - Panel discussion on bread and homemade food participated by:

• Dr. Nadia Paterek - Honorary Consul of the Republic of Benin in Katowice

• Dr. Marcin Tyslik - Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Gliwice

• Mr. Wojciech Giergiel - Honorary Consul of the Republic of Peru in Katowice

• Mr. Ranko Tomović - Honorary Consul of Serbia in Katowice

1.45 – 2.00 p.m. - Maria Gorajska with her band

2.00 – 3.15 p.m. - Panel discussion with the participation of:

• Mr. Marek Rasiński - Honorary Consul of Belarus in Katowice

• Mr. Artur Nizioł - Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Katowice

• Mr. Jarosław Wieczorek - Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Katowice

• Mr. Tomasz Zjawiony - Honorary Consul of Slovenia in Katowice

3.15 – 3.30 p.m. - Maria Gorajska with her band

3.30 – 4.30 p.m. - Presentations of bread and other baked goods prepared by Katowice City residents and craft bakeries.

Stage talks with representatives of the local group called "Crochet Hook and Knitting Needles - Ligota and the Surrounding Areas", a presentation of their handmade products including: tablecloths, napkins for bread, as well as interviews with residents who donated their baked goods for the exhibition.

4.30 – 4.45 p.m. - Maria Gorajska with her band + guests

The programme of the second day of the event included a tasting of bread prepared according to various traditions, e.g.: "Rudzianin" bread from Piekarok - a traditional bread oven from Ruda Śląska.

After the exhibition, the baked goods were donated to the Upper Silesian Charitable Society in Katowice.

Mr. Marek Szołtysek - journalist, expert on Silesian cuisine and culture (10-11.09.2021)

Mr. Grzegorz Płonka - researcher of the history of Ligota and Panewniki, author of numerous studies and publications on Silesian culture, artist and populariser of Silesian songs (11.09.2021)
