International City Cycling Day in Katowice – 29 June, 2018

Venue: Pałac Goldsteinów (The Goldstein Villa), Plac Wolności 12 A

Do you ride a bike? Do you want to learn more about the bike policy and  cycling infrastructure of our twin cities? If your answer is ‘yes’, come and take part in the International City Cycling Day organized by the City of Katowice on 29th June, 2018 in the Goldstein Villa Pl. Wolności 12a.

In order to participate in the event, please send your registration form to the following e-mail address: cycling@katowice.eu by 27 June 2018. The number of places is limited. The host provides interpretation of all experts’ presentations in the English language. Participation in the conference is free of charge upon prior notification. Moreover, city-bike vouchers will be awarded for the first 40 registered.

9.00 –9.05 a.m. Welcome by Dr. Marcin Krupa, the Mayor of Katowice City


9.05 – 9.15 a.m. The Cyclist’s M1 – a story by Mr. Wojciech Mszyca – a collector of antique bicycles from Katowice and his presentation of original exhibits


9.15 – 9.45 a.m. Implementation of the cycling policy by Katowice City” – Mr. Paweł Sucheta, the cycling officer of Katowice City


9.45 – 10.25 a.m. ”Groningen City’s cycling policy” - Mr. Jaap Valkemma, the cycling officer and Mr. Erwin de Jager, the traffic engineer of Groningen City (The Netherlands)


10.25 – 10.40 a.m. Questions addressed to speakers – part 1

1.30-1.45 p.m. ”Life in a handbike” - presentation by Mr. Dariusz Sobczak, a disabled person from Katowice who has been using his tricycle for sporting and recreational purposes for over 10 years


1.45-2.00 p.m. Experiences related to organisation of mass cycling recreational events entitled ”From Market Square to Market Square” and ”From Katowice to Ostrava on the Bike Wheel” - Dr. Grzegorz Mikrut, AZS AWF Katowice Cycling Team.
