Route localisation

The route in Katowice area, according to the project of the frame structure 'Silesia by bicycle', is a fragment of Katowice  Tychy - Pszczyna - Bielsko Biala - Milówka path. It starts in the center of Katowice, next to the Monument to Silesian Freedom Fighters and ends in Podlesie, near the wastewater treatment plant, next to the Tychy border. The route, within administrative borders of Katowice, passes through districts like: city center, Muchowiec, Brynów, Piotrowice, Kostuchna, Podlesie.

The route runs as follows:

  • The Monument to Silesian Freedom Fighters
  • Piastowska Str., Uniwersytecka Str., Bankowa Str.
  • Rawa river boulevard
  • Murckowska Str.
  • Three Ponds Valley (Dolina Trzech Stawów)
  • 'Muchowiec' Airport
  • Ochojec woodlands
  • Jaronia Str., Krasinskiego Str.
  • Podlesie woodlands
  • Saska Str., Zaopusta Str.

Route localisation

The route in Katowice area, according to the project of the frame structure 'Silesia by bicycle', is a fragment of Katowice  Orzesze - Rybnik - Racibórz - Krnow path. It starts in T. Kosciuszko Park, near the Parachuting Tower (Wieza Spadochronowa) and ends next to the Mikolów border, in the recreation center 'Starganiec' area. The route, within administrative borders of Katowice, passes through districts like: Brynów, Ligota and Panewniki.

The route runs as follows:

Route localisation

The route starts close to the cycle path that runs along Jankego Str. in Ochojec, near Jankego Str. and Szenwalda Str. crossing. It ends on Ledziny border. The whole route goes within Katowice area, through districts like: Ochojec, Giszowiec, Murcki. The path continues in Ledziny, leading through Zamoscie and Recreation Center 'Zalew' to 'Centrum' settlement.

The route runs as follows:

  • Ochojec woodlands

Cycle route No. 153 (blue colour on the map)

Route localisation

The route no. 153 in Katowice is an alternative choice. It runs as route no. 101 through Murcki woodlands, but instead of passing Hamerla, it goes through Stone Mountain (Kamienna Góra).The path branches off the route no. 101, close to Beskidzka Str. and ends on the city border. The whole route goes in Murcki district and it continues in Ledziny, leading through Zamoscie, Ratusz, Swiniewy, 'Centrum' settlement and coalmine 'Ziemowit' to Górki.

The route is 5, 3 km long.
Tourist attractions:

The Stone Mountain (Kamienna Góra) nature monument ( 267 m above sea level) is situated along the path. The whole route runs through recreation woodlands. There is a reserve �Plone Bagno' built mainly from Scotch pine.

Route localisation

The path is a continuation of route no. 2. It starts near Szadoka Str. and Zaleska Str. crossing in Brynów and ends in Medyków Str., close to the railway hospital (szpital klejowy) in Ligota. The whole route goes within administrative borders of Katowice, through districts like: Brynów, Zaleska Halda, Kokociniec and Panewniki.

The route runs as follows:

  • Szadoka Str.- leads to route no. 2
  • Przodowników Str.
  • Kombajnistów Str.
  • Brygadzistów Str.
  • Upadowa Str.
  • Ogrodowa Str.
  • Krucza str.
  • Panewnicka Str.

The route is 5, 8 km long.

Tourist attractions:

The route is diversified. The greater part with ground pavement leads through complex of woods with large number of deciduous trees like oak, birch. Magnificent individuals of those trees are here. It is mainly a recreation track, and though it goes near the academic area of Silesian University of Medical Sciences, it plays communicational role and connects them with neighbouring districts and woodlands.

They are situated in Kombajnistów Str., near allotments, at the beginning of complex of woods in Brygadzistów Str., at the end of complex of woods in Kokociniec and in Gromadzka Str, in Panewniki. Parking places are equipped with bicycle stands, tables, benches and dust bins.
