On
3rd June children and their parents are invited to celebrate the
Children’s Day right in the centre of the city - on the Market
Square. This year we are going to turn back time and enjoy the games,
which were popular in the past. Take this opportunity and join such
activities as a rubber band jump, a hopscotch, building 10 000
blocks, blowing soap bubbles and many others. The aim of the event is
to show children that it is possible to enjoy yourself without the
Internet, smartphones or video game consoles. The only thing you need
is your imagination and some space.
The
activities will be divided into several thematic sections ranging
from ”Every day in the playground”, where children will be able
to play the games their parents loved, through ”Holiday in the
playground” offering the kids more festive activities such as a
face painting, an inflatable slide riding or eating a sugar cane
cotton candy. The last section called ”Work in the playground”
includes 10 000 LEGO blocks to play with and a variety of art
workshops to stimulate all five senses.
Time:
10 a.m. - 6 p.m. with a special film screening of a popular
Polish cartoon „Bolek i Lolek wśród górników” at 12 a.m., at
Światowid Cinema.
Apart
from the entertainment zone there will be a lot of other attractions
such as kolobeżki i.e. Czech scooters, acrobatic shows, fun and
games in English for kids, a reading and drawing section or an ice
cream trolley with 160 free scoops for the youngest children.
Children’s
Day is the best time for the Final of the project called „Katowickie
Kilometry Dobra” (Katowice’s Miles for Good”). The goal of the
project, which was initiated in March, was to collect money for the
change of life of children and youth from difficult environments.
After three months of the campaign, the sum of all payments is over
80 thousand zlotys, or over 1800 metres of good. You will be able to
see the course of the whole project documented in the photos,
displayed at the Main Market Square.
